Restoration & Restomod

For classics, muscle cars and hot rods.

Bringing a classic, muscle car or hot rod back properly takes planning, patience and the right workshop approach.

Whether the goal is to restore, modify, modernise or rebuild, Viking Hotrods works with pre-1990 vehicles in a way that respects the car, the owner’s vision and the story behind it.

A Practical Approach

Every Build Is Different

That’s the point.

Some owners want their car kept as close to original as possible. Others want a restomod that improves drivability, comfort and performance without losing the car’s character.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach. We start by understanding the car, its condition, its history and what you want from it. From there, we help plan the most practical way forward.

Every Angle Considered

Stock, modified or somewhere in between

A restoration or restomod should be planned around the whole car, not just one part of it. Bodywork, paint, mechanical systems, performance upgrades, drivability, fabrication and finishing all need to work together.

Whether the goal is to preserve what is already there or build something more usable for today, Viking Hotrods looks at the vehicle as a complete project.

What we Cover

Restoration and restomod work can involve a wide range of workshop support, depending on the car and the direction of the build.

What we can help with:

  • Mechanical repairs and upgrades
  • Performance upgrades
  • Suspension and brake upgrades
  • Cooling system improvements
  • Interior and trim coordination
  • Project planning and staged work
  • Work on unfinished or previously started projects
  • Build support for pre-1990 classics, muscle cars and hot rods

Keep It Original or Make It Better

We plan around what you want.

There is no single correct direction for every classic. Some cars should be preserved. Some need careful restoration. Others are better suited to a restomod that makes them more reliable, more usable or more enjoyable to drive.

We talk through the options, explain what is realistic and help shape a plan that suits the car, the budget and the way you want to use it.

Where Builds Get Their Identity

The details are what people remember.

A good build is not just about getting the work done. It is about the details: the stance, the finish, the engine bay, the interior, the way the car starts, drives and feels.

Those details are what make the vehicle feel finished and personal. Whether the goal is subtle, original, custom or something in between, we focus on work that feels considered and true to the car.

One Workshop. No Juggling.

The details are what people remember.

Restorations, restomods and custom builds involve a lot of moving parts. When everything is managed through one workshop, the process is easier to follow and the vision is easier to protect.

At Viking Hotrods, we can coordinate bodywork, mechanical work, fabrication, paint, upgrades and build support so the project stays connected from start to finish.

Big Projects Need a Clear Plan

Restorations and restomods can uncover more than expected. Parts availability, previous repairs, hidden rust, mechanical issues and changing project goals can all affect the process.

That is why we plan carefully, communicate clearly and work through each stage with the bigger picture in mind.

One Roof, One Plan

All under one roof.

Because Viking Hotrods handles body, paint, panel, mechanical work, diagnostics, performance upgrades and build support, your project can be approached as one complete vehicle rather than separate pieces.

This helps avoid confusion, rework and decisions that do not suit the final result.

Restoration & Restomod FAQs

  • Do you do full restorations?

Yes. Viking Hotrods works on full restorations for pre-1990 classics, muscle cars and hot rods. Every restoration is planned around the vehicle, its condition, the owner’s goals and the level of work required.

  • Do you do restomods?

Yes. Viking Hotrods works on restomods for pre-1990 vehicles. A restomod can include mechanical upgrades, performance improvements, body and panel work, paint, fabrication, interior support and changes that make the car more usable while keeping its classic character.

  • Can you help with partial builds or staged restoration work?

Yes. Not every project needs to be completed all at once. We can help with partial builds, staged restoration work, mechanical repairs, bodywork, paint support, upgrades or specific parts of a larger project.

  • Do you handle body, paint and mechanical work in-house?

A lot of the work is handled through our Bomaderry workshop, including body, paint and panel work, mechanical repairs, diagnostics, performance upgrades and restoration support. Where specialist support is needed, we can work with trusted partners while keeping the project direction clear.

  • Can you include customisation in a restoration build?

Yes. Some restorations stay close to original, while others include custom work, performance upgrades, restomod features or modern improvements. We help plan the work so the finished car suits the owner, the vehicle and the way it will be used.

  • Do you offer project planning?

Yes. Larger restorations and restomods need a clear plan. Viking Hotrods can help assess the vehicle, discuss the goal, identify likely stages and recommend the most practical way forward.

  • What vehicles do you work on?

Viking Hotrods works on pre-1990 classics, muscle cars, hot rods, customs, restomods and older project vehicles. We focus on cars that need experienced hands and practical workshop knowledge.

  • Can you help if another workshop has already started the project?

Timelines depend on the vehicle, the condition of the car, parts availability and the scope of work. Larger restorations and restomods often need to be staged carefully so the project stays realistic and the finished result is right.

  • How do I start a project with Viking Hotrods?

The best place to start is a conversation. Tell us about your car, what you’re thinking and where you want to take it. We’ll give you honest advice on the most practical next step, whether it’s servicing, repairs, diagnostics, restoration support or a larger custom build.
